changing springs in Marlin A1

My brother's "garden gun" is a Marlin A1.
It shoots CCI CB longs quite well as a single shot.
What do any of you think about swapping out the recoil springs to make it shoot them semi-auto?
Bolt weight and ignition with lighter springs is a concern.
I knew this was a reach when I posted it, How about has anyone converted a semi to shooting CB longs?

ain't gonna work, not enough 'oomph' to power the bolt and cock the firing mech.

That's what I thought, one of the 2 springs in an A1powers the striker.
Just asked in case someone had a clever idea. Thank you.
