Handguard for?

I have a mint condition handguard for I don't know?It is identical in appearance to a swedish M/96 or M/38 mauser, but the sight opening is too small! I tried to use it on one of my swede's. The sight opening is shaped like an upside down ( T ). The bottom is 7/8 inch wide and the main channel is 5/8 wide the overall length of the opening is 2 15/16 the overall length of the handguard is 14 5/16. Its for sale but what is it?
