Mounting a Leupold on a SuperRedhawk

Scope for Ruger Super Redhawk What's the best, sturdiest way to mount a Leupold 2x EER handgun scope on a Ruger 454 Casull? The SRH came with 2 rings. Can Those be used? should a 3rd or 4th be added? Weaver base? etc. What equipment exactly will a guy need to mount and sight/adjust the scope? Thanks 1,000,000 C
Suffer Not This King
Howso' great their clamour, whatso'er their claim, Suffer not the old King under any name! He shall mark our goings, question whence we came, Set his guards about us, as in Freedom's name. He shall take a tribute; toll of all our ware; He shall change our gold for arms--arms we may not bear. He shall break his Judges if they cross his word; He shall rule above the Law calling on the Lord. He shall peep and mutter; and the night shall bring Watchers 'neath our windows, lest we mock the King-- Hate and all divisions; hosts of hurrying spies; Money poured in secret; carrion breeding flies. Strangers of his counsel, hirelings of his pay, These shall deal our Justice: sell--deny--delay. We shall drink dishonour, we shall eat abuse, For the Land we look to--for the Tongue we use. We shall take our station, dirt beneath his feet, while his hired captains jeer us in the street. R. Kipling

If you plan on hunting with it, dont use a scope. If its for target shooting, go ahead. I had a scope on mine, as have lots of others, and its probably a majority concensus that a scope isnt the way to go. I had the Leupold also. Its an eye relief issue when taking shots that are not directly in front of you. I'd go with the Bushnell Holosight, I havent got one yet, but everyone seems to be leaning towards these now. Ask around, you will see what I mean. OH yeah, the rings that come with it are good enough for a scope. If you go with a Holosight you will need to get a different rail mount. Like this one http://www.jackweigand.com/srh.html Good luck making your decision.

Thanks SSgt,I have been wondering about those Holoscopes in general. i also was wondering if the lack of field of view that you get from open sights is something a shooter might miss.Holosight seems to fix the problem. Is the installation easy enough?C

From all the people I've talked to, its pretty easy. Talk to or post a message for 'groundhog devastate' and he can give you info. on it.

Ssgt (or anyone else),Would there be any advantage to using See-thru rings to mount the Holoscope? or does the Holoscope sort of make that a mute point?Carl

I dont know of see thru rings for this installation, but the Holosight, from what I have heard, does make this a mute point.
