L1A1 Inch Parts on Imbel Receiver

Someone who has built several FAL/L1A1 rifles has told me that inch L1A1 parts can be used to build around an Imbel receiver with no problems. I'm wondering what L1A1 parts can be used with an Imbel receiver. Can the bolt carrier, trigger group and such from an inch pattern rifle be used in a metric receiver?

I posed this same question to Brad at gunthings.com. Though I ended buying from DSA, he was extremely helpful and took the time to explain that yes, you can indeed marry inch parts to a metric receiver. There are several things that have to be modified. Nothing major. He's got some nice Australian kits in VG overall, excellent bores with matching numbers for $250, other sets in lesser condition for cheaper. The wood furniture sure looks nice! I ended up buying the G1 with all black plastic because I couldn't pass up on DSA's package deal of parts and parkerizing for about $180. Best deal around. Good luck.

Well I'm in the same boat! I have a L1Al inch pattern kit, and from what I hear the Imbel receivers are pretty good quality at a pretty fair price ...but there's that metric issue you have to deal with! BUT I found this site, that explains all that. http://www.gunsworld.com/belg/fal/fal_us.html Check it out! Sheds alot of light on the issue. That and some other helpful info on the FN FAL. GOOD LUCK! ...Mark
