I have a friend that owns a Springfield model 16 bolt action rifle in .22lr/short... I am wondering the current value of the gun, the amount of guns out there like it, ect. The gun is in excellent shape... any help would be nice

I've been looking pretty hard, and can't turn up anything on this rifle. Savage/Stevens/Springfield often used the same basic design under any or all of their names, sometimes with the same model number, and sometimes not. The closest I have come is a Stevens Model 16 which is a single shot that looks a great deal like the Stevens Favorite without the underlever. If you'll get back to us with a complete description of the rifle such as barrel length, type of feed (tube, magazine, single shot), and all writing on the barrel and receiver such as patent dates, etc. we may be able to help you. It may be that this rifle does not appear in the reference books as a Springfield, but rather as a Savage or Stevens under a different model number.

Take a look in the Gun Parts catalog or Gun Trader's Guide (or many other reference sources) at the Stevens Model 15, 15-A. Same rifle?
