Well, i had the same concern with my 30-30. I figured once I had it done it greatly reduce the chance of selling it in the future...so I decided if I have the conversion done the Marlin will be a keeper. I had it done and the Marlin is a KEEPER! It shoots the standard 30-30 round and fire forms it to the Ackley. Recoil about like a 2.5" 410 shell...!!!! I will buy 30-30 Ackley dies for reloading. As soon as I have some extra $$$ I am going to have the 30-30 Ackley conversion done to my new Marlin Stainlss 30-30. I save all the brass and buy brass at gun show's. This rifle will do anything at 150 yards (98 per cent of all Deer I have shot over 30 years of D-hunting have been within that distance)that any other 30-cal rifle will do...kill Deer. It does not have all the glitz and glamour of the hot shot mags but the Deer are just az dead!

My dad had a 30-06 Imp. I have it now it is a great gun you can fire 30-06 ammo in it if you get in a bind on a hunting trip losing your ammo etc. loaded right it will perform right up there with the 300 H&H mag.

That 40 degree shoulder will push the 06 case performance right up to the belted magnum range. GO FOR IT, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!!
