Winchester Model 100

I picked up a Winchester Model 100 today at a garage sale. The rifle is in 90% condition. It is chambered in .284 Winchester. The S/N is 97,xxx. I think that makes production in 1965. I don't have pics just yet, but could take some and email them. Are the values really as high as I have seen on GB auctions? Incidently, I paid $250 for the rifle with 2 clips, 2 boxes of shells, and a 4x Bushnell scope on Weaver bases and rings. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated![:)][:)][?]

Can anyone tell me how to tell a pre-64 from a post-64 in the Model 100. I was under the impression that the basket weave checkering and no checkering was Post-64, with pre-64 having cut checkering.

l have a very nice 100 in .308 # 17179,my book says that is 1st year production 1961.it has plain walnut stock and 22"barrel and that makes it a carbine.My other book says carbines were not made untill like 1969,i am lost,can you help me.ken

I found a model 100 in about 65% condition. But, the thing is is has a short barrel. Did this model ever come in a carbine? As always thanks for your replies.

I have a 100 in 308 tha ejects every 3rd shot and the casing hangs up in the barrel so I need topry it out HELP

I just picked up a model 199 in .284 caliber. Serial number is 855xx. Just curious of a date of manufacturer.

Did winchester ever make a carbine .308 in this model? Just wondering because mine is 90% plus but does not have the checkered stock and the barrel seems shorter than 22in. (will measure tonight). I would think my stock is original to the rifle except the checkering is not there. Any help. As always thanks for your replies.

did winchester change the barrel length from 22" to 19" on the 100 rifle's in 1967..found sum info that says they did but i wanted to ask.Thanks

Is there a web site or tel. to call regarding whether the above model has been recalled and repaired as to the firing pin.

I am guessing that providing the serial number will work.

I have a .284 Pre-64 Model 100. I was wondering what the price range is for these guns. Also, I have 4-clips and I was thinking of selling a couple of them seperately. Seems like I saw someone looking for .308 clips for their M100 a while back and they were going for about 50 dollars. Am I remembering right?

I posted this same question about a month ago and would like to confirm if the response I received is correct.

I have a Winchester model 100 in .284 caliber. The serial number is 855XX. What is the date of manufacture? I was previously told the manufacure date was 1963, but it has the basket weaving checkering like those made post 63/64. Mine has checkering just like the one in this auction.

Curly,I suggest you pick up a copy of the gun list. The .284 is getting quite rare they are selling for $500.00 and up depending on cond. The Mags. if they are .284s are selling for about $65.00 & up.
