I reload a lot of 12 ga.--- some shells have cracks-- are they O.K.?
The cracks are in the crimp area only. AA shells.

    Cracks there usually will cause a slightly blown pattern but safe enough if you throw them away afterward.It is a sign of fatigue in the case.The whole case might go next,so one has to decide the value of PAIN.I for one will not reload a split case of any kind.Cases are too cheap to take a chance.My eyesight has no price....

    modoc is correct. When the case starts to split, it's time to throw it away. Most shotgun hulls are good for 6-8 reloads.

    Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!

    I third the above. Usually by the time the crimp area starts splitting, the case mouths are pretty weak and tend to dribble shot, anyway.

    Must be a first - 4 people reply and all say the same thing - when they start to split - toss 'em. I keep my hulls segregated in batches of 500. when I start to get a lot (5% or so) of splits, I toss the entire batch, saves a lot of time because next time around it will be 25% or more.
