Ebay Magazines

You guys ever go to Ebay and look for magazines. Wel, I think Ebay has a rule that only 10 round magazines are allowed to be sold on their website. I think there's a lot of them that are not 10 rounders but actually high-caps, however am I the stupid one. I would hate to bid so much money for a 10 round magazine, but I think I'm on to the sellers game!!!!!!!

New gun??? No, honey, I've had it for years.

Yeah, they say "10 round magazine" and then show a pic of a 15rd or 30rd M-1 Carbine mag. Ebay doesn't really care it seems as long as they don't blatantly say "Pre-ban 30-rd hi-cap magazine" or something. I'd ask the seller to be sure. He might beat around the bush though thinking you were Ebay or something. I don't think ebay does any punitive actions to people who violate the rules anyway, I think they just shut down the auction. Probably even refund the insertion fee to the seller. Never had it happen to me, so I can't speak from experience.

I have bought hi cap mags on ebay that were labeled 10 round before. Read the item description carefully. If it says 1978 manufacture (or before 10 rds were manditory)or original military surplus it will be a hi cap. I also emailed before buying, most sellers will talk to you.

Only sell the "10 Rounders" on E-Bay,......but when someone wants to "switch" to the same "length" magazine but, say, the 15 Round capacity after they have won,.........Why not?

I've seen 15 rd mags appear on eBay. Chances are the seller doesn't know about the rule. Frankly I'd rather deal on Gunbroker for such items so there's no issue. I don't want sellers getting in trouble with eBay. I really wish eBay wasn't so darn PC, but that's good for Gunbroker.

Frequently I've seen ebay sellers say something like, "in accordance with ebay rules I must tell you this is blocked to only accept 10 rounds". I don't know if that means they have to say that to keep from getting kicked off (I've been kicked off before) or does it mean they stuck a piece of wood in it so it will only hold 10 rounds. My guess is they are just saying what they need to say, or that you can pop the baseplate off and pull out the block if you want to.

Last week I e-mailed a seller that e-bay would probably 86 their auction for some 20 and 30 round mags, maybe not, but if they did I'd give $10 apiece for whatever they had. Today I got an e-mail that sure-nuff their auction was cancelled, and they'd love to just sell them for $ 10 to get rid of them, and did I want the others they had too?????

It's not just mags, EBay has a bunch of rules. I have bought software where all the ads say something like "in accordance with EBat and Microsoft rules we will include a piece of hardware with your order". That means you get a burnt out chip or sometimes nothing at all. R-12 freon ads say "only licensed buyers". When I as about faxing my license to the seller, half of them say not to bother.

I don't recommend using fleabay, but if you must, you must state the "actual capacity" of the magazine.

I listed two mags on fleabay. One a 6-round and the other a 10-round, but I failed to state the "actual capacity." I did state that both were in compliance with fleabay rules and all state laws. Fleabay pulled my auctions. They did not give me a chance to edit them, they just made them completely disappear. No relist ability. If I wanted to relist, I would have to shoot more pictures and start over.

    Fleabay smells.

I did get on a forum there and plug Gunbroker, though. My post stayed on about three days before it was poofed, and I got at least one fleabayer turned on to Gunbroker.

saw a new Browning hp T series mag go on Ebay. Told seller 14 rounders were illegal but that I would buy off auction. He cancelled auction and I bought. Goes with my 1967 T Series.

I've shopped around on Ebay a little, and many of the sellers will list their magazines as 10 rounders, then add a little description. For example, I've seen many AR mags listed as 10 rounders, then the description will say "this magazine is 7 inches long", and sure enough, the pic is of a 30 rounder. Just their little way of circumventing the system. I guess they figure anyone who is somewhat knowledgeable about these things will realize the REAL capacity.

Don't know why they even placed a ban like that to begin with. What is to them anyway? It's a double standard for those "power" sellers, I see them list a blatant hi-cap mag over and over while a beginner seller gets poofed in a heartbeat. Not worth the hassle so I just sell here to avoid all of that BS. GD

Sellers on ebay are getting pretty sly about selling hi-caps. They'll say stuff like "PreBan" 10rd capacity magazine, and show a picture of a nice long 30rd magazine. Also see M1 Carbine magazines 15 rders and they say that they are original 10rd magazine, military surplus.

I don't like ebay, its to Kalifornianized...

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

When eBay banned air pistols, I knew they had lost it in terms of the gun commmunity. FWIW, their yanking of auctions is largely done by those with too much time on their hands: Microsoft and other sellers who cry wolf to eBay and then eBay rolls over and plays dead to the guy who paid for the auction.
