    I honestly couldn't tell you what the best barrel lenghts would be for these, but I do have some additional information you should probably check into, if your interested in this.

    For the .44mag, I have seen sever variations in loads, for either rifle or pistols. Some of my relaoding manuals also have different load data for shooting this cartridge thru either a rifle or a pistol. I think that slower burning powders are used in rifles, and faster burning in pistols.

    As a general rule, you can add or subtract 50fps for each inch added to or subtracted from a barrel. I favor 24" barrels for most deer rounds, but a deer will never know the difference if you shoot with a 20" or 22" barrel. A lot of the ballistics on ammo boxes are based on a 25" barrel, but when is the last time you saw one of those on a new rifle? Use what is comfortable and works well for you, it won't make much difference anyway.
