In the past I hhave responded to wanted postings with the item number of an auction (either mine or somneone elses) Currently appearing under the WTB-AK Mags subject thread plenty of folks are responding with offers of direct sale. Some responses to my reply on that subject advised me that it was OK to offer items for direct sale in response to a wanted, Is it Ok to do this, Please post a response, i cant find out how to contact Goathead the moderator of Wanted.

It is indeed perfectly acceptable to respond to a wanted with an offer of what is sought. That is what the wanteds are for.

well! i've sold a few things in response to a wanted- i've also bought a few things. and i mean only a few. i don't believe you have any recourse with the potential buyer or seller in this format, and, nor
did i expect any. and i might add that these few things were of mostly small dollar value, with the exception of one, was $300.seems most of the postings are for an unrealistic deal, but that is only my opinion.

I think the "no for sale or for trade" just means that a thread cannot be started by someone trying to sell or trade something. It is fine if someone responds with a direct sale offer, I think that is what it was intended for.
