I personally like the H&K USP 40 compact with the galco ankle rig. Another good one is the glosk 27 40 cal with the same ankle rig. The Glock 45 slim and Glock .357 sig are good compact guns too.

New gun??? No, honey, I've had it for years.

On duty I carry a boot knife on my ankle, its more secure if you get in a foot chase. But for off duty I carry the Beretta 9000 9mm in a Safariland ankle rig.Or a model 37 chiefs special 38 in a surprisingly secure Uncle Mikes ankle rig.And if you are a LEO the Beretta comes with two 12rd clips and is not much bigger than a Keltec. If not it comes with two 10rd mags.

I had a KelTec P40 and it never malfunctioned on me in 500+ rounds but since you don like them for whatever reason get a KAHR micro MK40 its even smaller than the Kel-Tec but not as light and is still accurate. If you carr a full size Glock for duty if you are a cop get a mini-glock in the same caliber and you can use the same clips. If you carry a S&W 4006 you should get a Kel-Tec for the same reason it will accept 4006 mags. But the KAHR MK40 should be what your looking for.

Ankle holsters should be the absolute last resort for carrying a gun. A lot of LEOs have gotten themselves killed before their gun cleared leather.

worked ncis for dallas county texas for 3yrs - civilian!
iant no LEO, dont want to be LEO!

LEO's dont get paid enough!, have to put up crap from the public & those joker politicos, - anit worth it!

i travel alot, but when home i work in really BAD part of downtown where all the HUMAN TRASH hangs out.

when home & working at the shop, ihave to meet the public, so my berretta cougar 9357 357sig is my concealed side carry, but need to goto a ankle hoster & smaller piece when working & put the cougar up, until after hours.

now iam looking at the hk usp40 & glock 357&.40 lil compact

for rugster: how does the ankle holster do if you have to run say 50yards, does it stay ?. is like having a anchor on your leg?

iam still open for more suggestions, thanks you guys

walter de clone - at least my employer thinks i can do the work of 2 or 3 people.. haha
    thanks again

When I got my SW 60 from a friend of mine, he gave me a variety of holsters with it including a Black Hawk Ind. Ankle Rig. Its pretty comfortable, and stable, holds the gun upsidedown, so you don't have to completely pull your pantsleg up to clear for draw. And it will not only securely hold my subcompact model 60 revolver, but will also comfortably hold my full size glock 40. It also has an elastic look for carrying an extra magazine, but I find it securly holds my surefire 6p flashlight.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Out of the above choices, for backup guns, I'd choose the Colt Mustang, and pass on the sigma. You may also look into maybe an ultralight subcompact revolver, I've held some that you wouldn't even believe they were in your hand. Subcompact mini-glocks, para-ordnace p10, 1911 officers are also some options you might look into.
