Ultra-lite Beretta for sporting clay?

I am really starting to get in to sporting clay shooting thanks to a new range opening up about 10 minutes from home.
All of my current shotguns are pretty much set up for dove and quail hunting, ie, 20 ga's and 12 ga 26" barrels.
Beretta has a new Ultra-lite Deluxe model in 12 ga. with 28" barrels that would really be nice on the sporting clay field.
I am getting different opinions from folks that say the ultra-lite would be too brutal on a sporting clay field. The gun I want weighs 5.75 lbs.
I really like the weight and feel of the Ultra-lite but I want the right gun for the sport.
Your opinions please.
