Ruger Bear Cat First Year ?

I have a Ruger Bearcat that I am thinking about listing on gunbroker.com and do not know what to expect it to sell for.

I think it is the first year of production. It is WXXX serial number and has what appears to be micarta grips. I know the grips are orginial because a friend of mine bought it new with these grips.

I like a fool sent it back to Ruger and had it reblued but they did not anodize the alum. parts. There are one or two "nicks" on the black alum.

Other that what I mentioned above pistol is in great shape.

What should I expect to get for it?

    Does it have the .22 and .22Mag cylinders with it? If it one of the first production run guns its hard for me to say.If not and its in 98% condition it would be worth about $225.00 going buy my book.Having it Reblued took away some of the value.Welcome Aboard!

    Just single cyl. Do not think that they dual cyl.'s came in the Bearcats maybe the Super Bearcat's. Not sure.

    I bought the new model bearcat last year and they changed them again its only got the 22.Well its not interchangable.There a fine little gun though.You might want to call Ruger and see what year it was made.Could be worth the call!

    YOUR BEARCAT WAS MADE 1960. FIRST YEAR WAS 1958. DUAL CYLINDERS WERE NOT AN OPTION IN THE OLD MODEL BEARCATS. ASLO YOU DID NOT SAY IF RUGER INSTALLED THE" HAMMER BLOCK". HOPE THIS HELPS.

    DUCKHUNTER called it. If the pistol went thru the re-call,
    w/ hammer block and returned original parts, okay. Refinish
    even by Ruger is questionable for value. Do not believe it was
    available w/ an extra cylinder. Your call on pricing but my wild guess
    , actually for once I will not price. Spot market. 101

    No I did not have the hammer block put in. Have 2 other Old models and have not had them converted either. I use common sense and normally do not load one under the hammer.

    Your gun is an early gun, but not first year. It should have a brass grip frame. The grips shoulde be wood, I have not heard of or seen a Bearcat with Micarta grips, but that does not mean that there are not any. I have a Bearcat with a 'G' prefix 3 digit serial number. If you sent it to ruger for a reblue, they usually do the safety conversion even without you asking. The value of the Bearcat is in the plus or minus $250 range.
