As far as I know the HK Socom is the civilian version of the U.S Special Forces pistol.I would venture to say it is better than the tactical.I beleive it will fire any .45 auto round including .45super and from what I hear it is extremely accurate and mild shooting.I would say the extreme price is just so people can say I have a Special Forces pistol and feel like a Seal or Ranger. But it is no doubt a fine weapon and if you have the money why not.I know if I did I would buy one. Then I could feel like a Seal to.Even though I dont see a need for such a pistol it is one fine looking gun just to have if nothing else.

The Socom is conciderably larger, and still only holds 12 rounds in the full capacity mags ... never seen one that would shoot 45 Super (doesn't mean there isn't such a critter, I've just never seen one), it also has a longer barrel and a seperate de-cocker lever (the Tactical combines the safety and decocker). I've had a couple Socoms (took on trade at different times) they are comperable in size to a full size Desert Eagle but weigh much less, (and much larger than is comfortable for me) ... although I didn't feel like a Seal, its a cool piece to have if you have everything else ... The last one I had came with all the goodies; 12 round mags, fake silencer and Wilson light/laser combo, factory hard and soft cases ... I traded for a Match and Tactical with all the toys.

... there are so darn many models to choose from!

i have the tactical and really like it. I think the only difference is the lecgth and the safety. Other than that, it is a cheaper model of the socom.

New gun??? No, honey, I've had it for years.

Oh yeah, the barrel threads are the same size but reversed on the Tactical so "accessories" WILL NOT interchange.

The tactical is smaller than the socom.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....
