M44 Russian Bolt Problem

I have a M44 Russian, after putting 10 or 15 rounds through it, I
can't get the bolt to go up and back. It feels like it stuck in place
and the only way to get it to move is to put my foot on it. Any one have any suggestions?
THANKS.

I would disassemble, clean, and lube the bolt assy just for giggles. If you are using ammo with the greenish/brown laquered cases you are probably getting cases stuck/glued in the chamber. The Nagant cocks the striker and partially extracts the spent case when you raise the bolt handle. If the lacquered cases are sticking, it will be very difficult to raise the bolt-handle.

And while cleaning the bolt, don't forget to use a brass chamber brush on that chamber. Mine did the same thing, but after cleaning the bolt and chamber never had any more trouble.

Look for case expansion indications as another thought! If you see a lot of expansion at the web near the base, you have either an oversized chamber or really high pressure ammo; neither of which is a good thing! If you need bolt dissasembly instructions, NJRETCOP just turned me on to www.surplusrifle.com . Great bolt disassembly reassembly instructions. Great little guns by the way; I have a Polish M-44 I will never part with!!
