Getting rid of my Model 70 '06 with BOSS,too heavy for this old man any more. Am thinking of getting new lighter weight and lighter kicking rifle for my senior years. Have been following forum and many seem to favor Tikka rifles as great values . Am thinking of 7mm-08 cal for deer only. Is Tikka what you guys would favor? Thanks for your help!

For the lighter weight the Tikka you mentioned , Remington Model 7, or the Remington Mountain Rifle would all be good choices......[8D]

You will not be dissapointed with the Tikka T3 lite. Excellent gun with a gauranteed 1" MOA out of the box. The lite rifle will have more recoil than a heavier heavier rifle so if the 7mm-08 still kicks I would recommend a Sims limbsaver recoil pad. They are making them for the T3 now and they are well worth the money.

I bought a Tikka T-3 Lite Stainless in .25-06 last fall and I have never been so happy with an out of the box rifle. Excellent light crisp trigger, smoooooooth bolt, low bolt lift for low scope mounting, excellent safety with no unnecessary extra locks...And did I say accurate...first loads consistently groups under 1" at 100yds. By the way I have a Browning A-Bolt Micro Hunter in 7mm/08 that I also love, I'd have gotten the 7mm/08 in a Tikka if they had been available then, but since my wife got it for a birthday present I'll never get rid of it. Even though the Browning is very accurate I prefer the Tikka.

Checkout Item # 17117995. It is the new tikka T3 lite 7mm-08 in a blued barrel at a good price.

Kenjs1: I called Sims and the customer service lady told me that she was informed by gunsmiths that the Sims limbsaver pad #10112 fits the Tikka T3. She said there are 3 pads that fit Tikka's but she does not know all three as they were not designed for Tikka but do fit Tikka's.

Not to brag but I got one of the first (only?) T3 7mm-08's in stainless/synthetic. Without the help of a boresight it took 4 shots to put it in the '10' ring and the next three touched each other.
I've never experienced that in any rifle.
And it's fun to go thru two boxes of ammo and not have your shoulder hurt.
I will never sell that one.
I'm glad I bought it when I did.
