In my state (IL.) a trip to stateville!!! At least til things get straightened out in September if you want to put it on the gun. But seriously, while I don't know exactly they are likely worth a few hundred dollars. The original Beta mags are going well in excess of that now. Does this thing use a winder? That would help to know. The only place I know of around here that sells anything like that is R'Guns (www.rguns.net). Look at what they may have to offer and go from there. Good luck!

Please explain this to me. I own one. I have no knowledge of it being illegal in IL.

Anyway, I paid $90 for it. Please let me know if you are planning on selling it. I'll gladly have another, but hurry! If the AWB sunsets in Sep., the value will drop.

Unless you live in Chicago proper there are no laws in IL concerning hicap mags!

Back to the original question, what is the mag made out of? Metal or plastic, is one side of it clear?

I am in Illinois, the mag is not illegal, BUT to put it in a POST BAN GUN is illegal. Techicalities .although BATF probably won't beat your door in for this, but if they did, you are now a felon. nambu

I think you are confused. It would be illegal to own a post ban manufactured high capicity magazine. These mags would be manufactured after September 13th, 1994. The ATFE regulates this not Illinois!

    http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/faq2.htm#o3
O3) What restrictions does Federal law impose on large capacity ammunition feeding devices? [Back]

It is generally unlawful for a person to transfer or possess a large capacity ammunition feeding device manufactured after September 13, 1994, the effective date of the law. See the exceptions listed in Question O5. [18 U. S. C. 922( w)( 1)]

(O4) How does the law define the term "large capacity ammunition feeding device?" [Back]

The term "large capacity ammunition feeding device" is defined as a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device manufactured after September 13, 1994, that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Large capacity ammunition feeding devices in knockdown - disassembled) condition consisting of all parts needed to assemble a complete large capacity ammunition feeding device are subject to regulation if the parts are segregated or packaged together and held by a person as the parts for the assembly of a particular device. [18 U. S. C. 921( a)( 31)]

Once again Illinois has no such ban on high capacity magazines. Nor is it illegal to put a hicapacity magazine in a post-ban gun.

    Does it look like this?
    90_Drum.jpg

Because this guy is selling it for $199.
    http://www.cmmginc.com/inventory_a/Magazine_tbl.html

I wouldn't pay that for something made out of plastic though.

Maybe this next september we'll be able to buy em for:
