I would like to know who makes a great barrel for 1911s. It will be going into a Springfield Armory GI model. 5 inch full size 1911. The application will be for target shooting out to 10-25 yards max. But i would like this barrel to have a potential accuracy out to 50 With some hard work and good recipes. Thanks in advance.

Anyone know what the proof marks "FG" and "SW" stand for on WWII era 1911 barrels? I have two Remington Rand slides with barrels marked with above.

Whats next? A ban on automatic transmissions?

BarSto Precision Machine used to do so, in S Cal. Do a search, I guys. Also, there's some guy who's been relining barrels for decades, advertises in the Shotgun News and American Rifleman. His Name eludes me at the moment. I think his last name starts with an "R", tho.
