Don't do anything rash . Let me post a couple of photos that might give you a solution to the ATF regs. Anyone out there that I can send pics to that can post them?

These are for educational purposes only:

Long as it's been rebarreled with a rifled barrel, and the original .410 smooth bore barrel has been "LOST". Your good to go, it's just as legal as a Thomson Contender.

    Rufe,
It has a .38 Spl barrel, that at one time , I believe, was a machinegun barrel. It is a ported, finned barrel and has a custom grip.Gunsmithing is required here.

Well , as a 'gun dealer' of over twenty five years and a LEO , I do beleive this is an illegal item : a 'long-gun' that was made as such must always stay that way , regardless of barrel/caliber change , it is the 'receiver' that matters .
    Thanks !!!

I agree with ABC GUNS For instance. If you had a remington model 600 rifle action and rebarreled it with an XP100 barrel and put it in a custom XP100 stock it would look like a pistol but it WOULD NOT BE LEGAL. I know someone that got in trouble with a Remington rolling block rifle that was converted to a pistol as Remington did make rolling block pistols and they were made before 1898 he thought it was OK . Not so .Like many gun laws it would depend on how much of a hard nose the agent wanted to be . I think the above pistol is great looking and pass muster with 98% of BATFE agents but I for one would not want to take the chance just to own a NEAT firearm.

The H&R Handy Gun was never a long gun.
