Can you mount a scope on a Dan Wesson model 744 and where would I find this mount? Thanks

Yes, you can I have an old Aimpoint scope mount that replaces the rear sight and then clamps to the barrel but you must have a vent rib barrel.
They mount similar to the Colt Python & Anaconda. The bad news is Aimpoint doesn't make scope mounts any more. You could still have one installed by a gunsmith but the barrel would have to be drilled and tapped. I'm pretty sure that J.B. Holden Iron sight also made one at one time. Upon further review I just checked the one I have and I'm 98% sure it's for the DW 44. I checked it on my .44 and it fits the vent rib almost perfectly but the shroud would have to be tapped with 4 holes. This ones in stainless and it doesn't clamp to the shroud but over hangs it slightly.

The best scope mount for a DW is made by Weigand Combat. Brownells part number is 957-000-065.
If you can find a Buehler clamp on one they work good.
