I need information on shipping a pellet poistol. Does it have to go to a dealer? Anything else I need to know to be completely legal? thanks

Not a firearm as far as the feds are concerned. Your local laws might be different though. Depending on State/City of residence. Contact local sporting goods store, where similar Co2/BB guns are sold, to find out if they are regulated.

Or, check ATF P5300.5, downloadable from the website.

Put it in a box, wrap it and mail it. You might want to insure it for it's value.

Since it's not a firearm, no dealer needed.

The post office prohibits mailing of air guns by private parties if the velocity exceeds 400 fps.

ATF might not consider it a firearm but the State of NJ does and requires them to be bought and sold through an FFL. Airguns are regulated in some cites across the USA.
Dave45-70 what city/state is it going to or have you not listed & sold it yet?

Since he is not in NJ, he could simply do like other sellers do with Calif and state in the auction "No sales to NJ".

but you can ship rifles and shotguns...i am a private party and do and just did...they ask what it is I say rifle/shotgun and off it goes...trust me its more than 400 FPS i can ship to an FFL out of NC or in NC can ship long gun directly to buyer and not FFL
