What bullet weights do they seem to favor? Thinking about buying one and just looking at available ammo selection. Thanks

147 gr FMJ

150 gr FMJ?

heavier?

I think its twist rate dependent first and then powder capacity. Seems to me 168 BT do fine, any heaver might start being questionable.

My "loaded" M1A had a 1 in 11" barrel and seemed to like everything up to 168gr. Between the 147 and the 150 there should be little or no difference unless one has a lighter than lead core giving it a longer body length. Try a few at service standard loadings not max loads and see what it likes.

Hard to go wrong with a 168 gr sierra match king. Some guys are shooting 175's, but from what I read the heavier 175 gr bullet only pays off after 600 yards or more.

Try working up to 168 smk, 41.5 gr. IMR 4895, LC brass, Win. LP no crimp. Remember military brass has less capacity, so back off one grain if you try any other recipes.
