Custom C. R. Jones Rifle ????

A gun shop here has a very nice custom rifle that is labeled C. R. Jones Rifles. It looks like a very high end type item.

This rifle is built on a Rem 700 ADL action, is chambered in 25-284 and has a McMillan Stock on it. This is all the info that I have or can furnish about this rifle.

Is anyone familiar with C. R. Jones Custom Rifles and their quality?

Is this custom rifle maker still making rifles?

Any information on this custom rifle maker would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

What kind of rifle? You sure didn't give many details. None, actually.

I think what Spider meant is, Tell us a little more about the rifle? Bolt-action, falling block, double rifle? What is the over style of the gun? Is it very old and elegant, or new, cheap looking? Any other markings visible? A quality looking rifle or kind of shoddy? Where is the shop located? That might help narrow it down. I couldn't find anything in any of my books, but I also had not too many details about the gun in question. Thanks

    25-248? Perhaps 25-284?

I have not heard of Mr Jones.
There are a lot of shops doing nice work on Remington actions without nationwide fame, I would not worry about it if it looked good. A .25-284 was kind of a short lived phenomenon, popular only for a while after the wildcatters got hold of a new case to work with. It may be older than routine www listings.

However, .25-284 is a pretty hot round, about like .25-06 and maybe a bit more due to the tendency to load wildcats hot to prove how great they are. I would want a round count on the barrel and/or a look with a borescope before I paid more than the value of the action and stock.

Yes, I meant 25-284. Thanks for the correction.
