Think I'm going to buy a Ruger P95 from a friend of mine. He only has a single 10 rd mag with it and I was wondering if the 15 rd mags I can buy on GB will interchange and work in it. Thanks.

There are several brands of mags that will fit the P95. Some are better(or have a better reputation) than others. USA and Promag are sometimes problematic-usually they work but sometimes not. MecGar seem to almost always work. In one of my P95's any mag works fine but another chokes on some that function fine in #1. Get a reputable brand and test to make sure they work.

We've sold 15, 20, and 32 round Promag brand magazines for the Ruger P85 and P89 for over ten years. In that time I cannot remember having a single customer report anything bad about Promag for the P85 type pistol. We've sold thousands of them.

If you want to buy some at a good price, here is our link:

The magazine that fits the P-95 (and nearly all the 9mm P-series pistols Ruger made) is most commonly referred to as a "P89" magazine. The "P89" was the most popular model of the P-series pistols. The 15-round mags you see listed on the auction side will work the same as your ten-rounder. (Assuming they are legal in your state.)

Factory magazines are the best -- and usually reasonably priced. Mec-Gar are usually excellent too. (Mec-Gar makes magazines for a lot of firearm manufacturers, so they can be the same as "factory" just without the firearm manufacturer's name.) You could have trouble with some of the cheaper non-factory magazines, so I'd recommend sticking to either factory or Mec-Gar, unless you are looking for a "project" -- many of the poor magazines can be made to work if you know how to work on them.

When searching on the auction side, try the search terms using "P89" and "P-89" -- some put a dash in there, some don't. You get more results without the dash.
