I have the single shot bug and want to get it right the first time, The gun looks restored ? very best

    I would not call it a "restoration"... instead, it has been refinished.

    As for the rifle, it is a "Special Single Shot Rifle", and the complete serial number should be 54981. When it was originally manufactured, it sold for $45 (a lot of money back in those days). There is no mention in the records about the allegded presentation.

    If that rifle was 100% factory original, it would be worth 2.5X the asking price. As a "refinished" rifle, the value is in the eye of the beholder (buyer). I personally would not be an interested buyer for anything greater than $2500.

    Sure looks to be a nice shooter. More and better pic's would help the seller. 32-40 is one of my favorites.
