Winchester Model 70 pre 64?

Hello
First time on this forum hope you all can help. I recently bought a Winchester Model 70 in .243. My question is would this Winchester be considered a pre or post 64 as the serial number chart on Winchesters site says it's a 1964. The serial number is 713228. Also would like to know what this Winchester is worth. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

You have the revised design commonly known as "post 64" even thought your rifle was made during 1964. When they changed the design, they skipped a lot of numbers and resumed at 700000.

They also went to a hook extractor in the bolt head instead of the long Mauser/Springfield claw which is visible to the naked eye with the rifle fully assembled.

I am sure the price you paid was exactly what it was worth.

    Hello,

When somebody says "post-64", it is a misnomer, and what they were really trying to say is Post-1963.

Winchesters are either "Pre-1964" (manufactured prior to January 1st, 1964), or they are "Post-1963" (manufactured after December 31st, 1963).

    Your Model 70 is a "Post-63".

could you post some photos of this rifle, as some transition rifles, those made the first half of 1964 have a little more value over the post 64's up to 72
