Khegglie-Questions about Eddystones appear on this forum fairly often. If you have one it is so marked on the receiver ring. If it does not have the rear sight protection ears they have been removed. This is a very common alteration to (1) make the gun lighter and (2) give the receiver a more streamlined and pleasing appearance. The alteration in no way weakens the action. The rifle did not originally have a rear sight on the barrel, so if yours does it is an addition. Any good gunsmith should be able to install a front sight for you. I'd advise that you have it done by a gunsmith as the sight must be installed top dead center and be of the correct height to work with the rear sight, for which there is a formula.

many years ago I reworked a '17 Enfield (Winchester) Cut the barrel off at 22" put a reverse crown in there. Milled the rear sight off and the receiver down to a nice boat tail This allowed for a very low scope mount.(no iron sights). It was a great shooter.Ran everything 30/06 through it from 220 gr down to 110 gr factory loads to some 85 gr homebrew varmit loads.

I had a eddystone just like yours with the ears cut off the rear sight. I bought in from a gun shop for $130.00 and had it for a year and never shot. I just got done trading it in on a SKS. I got a original stock and a little hardware for the gun if your thinking about making it back to full military. Thats what I was going to do and then said heck with it and ditch it. So now I'm looking for one that is full military. A good place for parts for that gun is springfield sporters.
