I have a shotgun that I recieved from my grandfather. He said that it was his fathers gun. I grandfather was born in 1921, so I assume the gun is old. I am trying to get an exact year that it was made. I know that the Cresent made, American Gun Co. firearms are not worth much, but I want to when it was made. It is a single shot 12g.

Barrel reads: Victor Plain Amreican Gun Co. New York.
Serial number on barrel is 508957. Under the trigger, on the inside trigger housing is the number 1170.

Can anyone tell me when this gun was made?
