Which Kimber Model?

It seems that there are several Kimber models out there that could be used for competition shooting. I went to one watch a competition today and it looked like fun. I have medium large hands and think that the 5-inch barrel would be the most accurate. I believe that stainless would show less holster ware. But which model? Would the Custom model really help me for these shoots? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Jim

I have a Kimber Custom. Although I love it and probably would not get rid of it, but, if you are looking to do some competition shooting, I would suggest the Gold Match. If that's a bit too pricey, I'd suggest something between that and the Custom.

I'd go with a Gold Match Stainless, they are real beauties, I'd trade my old lady for one in a heartbeat (she's standing right behind me reading this as I type.....ouch, she just hit me......ouch........she's gone) Anyway, they are factory tweaked, perfect for anything you can put one thru.

I have 2 Kimbers, a CDP Pro and a Custom Target. A friend of mine had a 5" Custom, and when I shot it, it shot 4" low for me at 15 yards. I then found the Custom Target, which is basicly the same gun with adjustible sights. I have been happy with it, and I feel that it is the best bargin in a Kimber. I don't think that the Gold Match is worth the extra cost. I love the CDP Pro, but I can't say that it was as good a value as the Custom Target. Since Kimber has gone to the II series, I doubt that I will buy any more new Kimbers. I think that this was a bad idea.

I have to go with William81 ... the gold match is definately worth the difference to the decerning shooter thats not quite ready to step up to a $2500 Les Baer or Wilson Combat.

With the custom target all your getting over a std custom is adjustable sights for an additional $100, personally I can't say I'm very impressed with Kimbers adjustable sights, for the money there are alot better adjustable sights avaiable ... save your money and learn to shoot the Custom IT is the best value ... of course this is just my opinion and personal experiance with the 9 Kimbers I own.
