Common ground carrier (not US Mail, not Air) Package must be marked "ORM-D Consumer Quanities" (other regulated materials class d) 200lb burst strength box.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

The correct term is "consumer commodity". The correct Proper Shipping Nane however, is "Cartridges, Small Arms". Also, the package must be 30 kilograms (66 pounds) or less, the ammunition must be packed in inner boxes, and the primers of centerfire cartridges must be protected from accidental ignition. Ammunition can be shipped by air but would be a lot more expensive.

I have been working with DOT regulations for close to 20 years and believe me, there is no such term as "consumer quantity" in the DOT regulations. It is consumer commodity.

Safest way and surest way is to call UPS hazardous materials at
800 554 9964 as I did and have them E mail you complete instructions.
You get it from the "horses mouth" and then can show it to counter if
any problems like I had prior to this. Small arms ammo (.50 cal and under or under .50 cal ?) can be sent in 200 lb. test boxes, so marked on bottom in circle. A sticker showing "small arms ammunition
AND one showing ORM-D on box". Must be well packed in cartons.
This goes at UPS ground shipment. Same price as machine tools ETC.
I believe also a under 60 lb box per shipment. I recieved a return E mail within 15 minutes after calling with COMPLETE ISNTRUCTIONS FOR
SHIPPING. This was after being told at the UPS counter I could not ship it. Now, they know better at this counter and no more problems.
Local UPS counter has no ORM-D or SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION stickers but
E mail gave me instructions to make them.
