I see where Taurus is offering a Raging Bull in .30 carbine.
Anyone have any experience with this?

No experience with it ,but it's not much of a rifle cartridge.Don't think much of it in a handgun.

Personally I think its a great cartridge. Perfect for its original intended use. And/or for deer hunting, and a good urban rifle. I think that the Raging Thirty matched up with a custom M1 Carbine, would make a great combination.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

My Uncle and I have used a Mil-Surp M-1 .30 Cal. Carbine for years on his farm, 100's of coyotes and pesky critters can't be wrong!

I had a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine; these were made for many years, but not many were sold. And, resale value was always lower for this cartridge than any other.

Ballistics are not much different than the .357 magnum, but it is not nearly as versatile. Many states prohibit using it for deer, and wisely so.

It's an idea that has come and gone; there's no good reason to bring it back again.

I talked to the Taurus rep last week when he stopped by. He indicated that the Raging Thirty will be out later this year. As of yet there have not been any released. If you like loud handguns, you'll like this one.

Not chambered for the .30 carbine, but the Rageing Bull is a very strong gun and should handle the cartridge well.

    Good Luck!!

Nmeyers- would you say that the Ruger Blackhawk in a 30 carbine was about the loudest hangun ever made?

I remember shooting one. Every body on the range stoped to see what it was.

pop, pop, pop, pip, pop, pip, pop, BAM!!!, long silence, pip, pop, pip.....

No major experience with the ruger .30 carbine but I agree that the muzzle blast and I mean blast is painful. Don't know how you could stand it without plugs and muffs.
