all right gentleman thank you for all the advise on my squirell gun!!!! but now you have made me ask more ????? so how do I take the mag apart? It looks like it is sealed. and once it gets apart how do I wind the spring??

I prob. over lubed it.{gun not mags} with 3n1 have used this oil for long long long time so........ as for my Deer Rifle its a Rem 870 with a rifled barrel, 3in magnums hehehe

it was doing just fine last year and the year before with the same ammo but started this trash after cleaning in hopes of clearing up the jamming prob. thanks again and I'll be here all weekend

The procedure for dismantling and reassembling the 10/22 magazine is in the owner's manual. You need toread it before you take it apart.

And stop using 3in1 oil on firearms. Get some real gun oil, or even some surplus weapons oil.
If you don't have a manual, contact Ruger, they will send you one for free.
As I remember, you loosen (don't remove, yet) the allen screw. Push in on the allen screw which will push out the hex headed mag core. The core is what the spring is attached to. Once the tension is removed, finish taking the screw out and slide off the end plate. When reassembling pre-load the spring 8-9 flats. You should have the manual handy when you do this. It's been a while since I last did mine, so I'm a little rusty.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Try using some MPro-7 Ultimate Lube. Put some on a q-tip, and wipe on the bearing surfaces. Thats all the oil you need. Unless your going to store the gun, then get a silicon cloth and wipe down the outside. But overoilling is asking for nothing but problems.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
