Date of Winchester 94

I was in a budy's shop this afternoon and saw an old winchester 94 in 30-30 and was wondering if anyone could help me out on a date for it. The serial number is 1000984, and the barrel says it is made of nickel steel. It's in about 70% condition with a good deal of blue wear, excellent wood without any cracks or chips, and absolutely no rust. It's being offered for $700, but that's flexable. Is that a good price for it? Thanks for your help.

The configuration and extras will determine the value. Rifle or carbine? Magazine length, barrel length and style, pistol grip?, caliber, sights,? There are many things to look for in Winchesters.
Usually 94's are not really desireable (not at high prices anyway) unless they have some unique configuration.
