Electroplating ?

What exactly does it mean to have a handgun electroplated ?

    Electro plating is generally used to nickle plate a gun. The tank and the item to be plated are given opposite electrical charges causing the nickle in the tank solution to be deposited as a film or plating upon the object, in this case a gun.

    I may be very wrong but from what i remember i thought electroplating wasn't the best method of nickle plating a gun because i think the nickle tends to build up around corners, etc. I believe electroless is now the preferred way.......like i said i may be wrong, and im sure someone will correct me.......
