Here is a dual purpose load that I've been using for some years now.
100 gr. Nosler Btip. over 54.0 IMR 4831/cci 200. Vel is 3250/22" 3310/24". This load is so good, that I don't mess with anything else. Kills deer like lightning, coyotes as far as I see 'em, jackrabbits as far as I can hit 'em. Recoil is a bit stout for 100 rds @ ground squirrels or P dogs, (but I have a 22-250 for that)

    simple be good.......JimF

    Thanks Jim!

I will try it out- I am hoping that my 25-06 (that I haven't shot yet) would be a good go between my 270 and 22-250. My 22-250 in a Rem 40x Is good to about 800 yds
but I got to lob'em in there. My 270 after about 50 rounds i am done for the day. Hope I can do the 1K club with that 25-06!
    thanks-

The 25-06 is my all time favorite if I could only have one gun!! Lord, please don't let that happen!! Anyway try these as they have worked for a lot of years in a lot of 25-06's: Reloader 19, 57grains, Fed 210Match, 87grain Remington Power-Loct Hollw Point(PLHP), 3543fps out of a 24"barrel. Same load with 90grain Winchester Positive Expanding Point(PEP) 3460fps out of 24"barrel. IMR 4831, 58.5 grains, CCI-BR2, 75grainVMax. Not Chronographed but consistently accurate. (How many varmints you ever had stand back up and say the bullet was going too slow?) That one is probably not slow but work up to it in your gun!! Winchester 760, 55grains, CCI-BR2, 75gr VMax, 3645fps out of 24" barrel. Deer killin load that I'm willing to bet will shoot in any 25-06 you want to try it in: IMR 4350, 49.0 grains, CCI-BR2, 117 grain Sierra Spitzer Boat Tail. Let us know if you tried them and if they shoot! GHD

Saxon, Those first 3 or 4 loads are a--hole to earbone varmint loads! Not intended for pets unless they are bad pets!! GHD

    No pets
The only animal control I do is run buy Ca.DFG. I know it was a joke
but you can't tell these days. Every varmint seems to have some hippie
    chained to it these days.

Try 55 grs. IMR-4350 with the 100 gr. bullets. You will need to start low and work up, your gun may not handle this hot load. Try the 85 gr. Ballistic Tip for varmints. Another good load is all the H-4831 you can handle with the 100 grainers. I shoot 100's for almost everything anymore. They shoot flatter and kill deer for me as well as the heavier 117's and 120's. If you use the same load for varmints (100 gr. bullet) you will really learn how it shoots and be deadly on deer and antelope. I have a 25-06 with a 28" barrel that can get over 3500 fps with a 100 gr. bullet. I have always been able to achieve excellent accuracy with the above two powders in any 25-06 that I have shot. Good Luck with your choices, I think the 25-06 is the best of the dual purpose varmint-deer loads. I have used one since 1965.
