One shot stopping power

I was reading one of the other posts here. Someone said the #1 1 shot stop caliber is .40. I was under the impression that it was the .357, in 125 JHP. I also read somewhere on the wed that "one shot stopping power" doesn't mean to kill. It means that one shot, will stop the intruder. If this is correct, I would like to know what the most effective one shot killing caliber is. If someone breaks into my home, I want to know the best caliber to kill, not to stop.

In theory the bigget heaviest bullet you could get would be the most effective. I'd say that would either be an elephant rifle, an anti material rifle, or a 10ga slug. But them aren't exactly practical for daily carry.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
The sound of a 12 gauge pump clears a house fatser than Rosie O eats a Big Mac !
FRANGIBLE BULLETS.
(Ok, that's two words, but in any handgun round .38 and up, it is your best bet for one shot stopping/killing power--plus you get the safety benefit of very minimal overpenetration risks. And some of the sintered copper frangible bullets/ammo are very reasonably priced--compared to rounds like Glaser or MagSafe.)
Best!!

If I had children at home I would use Glaser rounds, since
I don't I have my trusty 870 riot by my bed.
Don't send flowers when I die. Send money now, I can buy more ammo.
