single-six HELP

I can not get the cylinder to drop out for some reason..This gun was a friends of mine and god knows when he cleaned it last i am cleaning his guns up and i need to remove the cyl....It has a push knob on it i push it and try to pull up on the release but no luck...ANY HELP

    If it's and older model (3 screw) make sure it's unloaded. Half cock the hammer and make sure the cylinder rotates. Open the loading latch, then push the pin stop on the side and pull the base pin forward. Once the pin comes out, you should be able to drop the cylinder out. If it's a newer model, just open the loading gate latch and push the pin stop and pull the base pin forward.

    If the pin is stuck, you might have to tap it forward. Try using a wood dowel and rubber mallet.

    I hope that works for you Harlee Man,It seems to me that the New model Bearcats Pin will fall free almoston its own.I dont expect it to get better with time,I wonder If there is something I can do?I havent heard anyone else with this complaint!

    My single six will work the pin retainerloose once in a while. I had that same problem, but then I discovered that if I tightened up the push tab, it would push through far enough to actually release the pin. Try that and see if it helps.
