I lost a Model 94 Winchester .38/55 -serial #186***, need an estimate of value.
Over 90% original finish,Stock Fancy Grain, NRA Excellent Condition, Lyman Tang sight, 28" full octagon barrel, small dent in stock, not very noticable, very near perfect. I really loved this gun. What would it take to replace this?

I'm basing this estimate on Blue Book pricing, and not having actually seen your rifle this is the best I can do: Your serial no., 186*** indicates manufacture in the year 1900. In 90% it would be worth approx. $1,200, if standard. In a caliber other than .30-30, add 15% ($180), and if a deluxe model, add 20% ($240). It sounds as though yours is/was a deluxe model given the fancy wood grain and 28 inch barrel, which is longer than the standard 26 inch barrel. If so, replacement value would be $1,620.
