I just got a 2.5" barrel Python (357) and would like to know the age of the gun. The serial number is VA7###, it's blue with small full checkered grips and it has leaf springs.

I got it from my great Aunt who wanted to get rid of one of her guns. She had the Python and a pre model number marked S&W Chiefs Special flat latch 38. She kept the 38 because it fit better in her purse. I'm first on the list when she wants to let go of the 38. I'll post pics of the Python as soon as I get a chance.
