Plastic Bullets

I was digging through my old sea chest the other day and I came up with an old box of "SPEER" target 38 plastic bullets. I bought these almost 30 years ago in Norfolk, Va. One of our Aussie friends mentioned plastic or rubber bullets in a post '.45ACP flash holes'. I remember looking in gunshops for these things about 15 years ago and couldn't find them. There is a red plastic shell, and the bullet was a black plastic cylinder that snapped into the shell, then you pressed a large magnum primer into the plastic shells primer pocket and that was all that fired the bullet. It was great for indoor target practice. My question, are these plastic bullets still manufactured? They were reusable, but unfortunately the bullets disapeared faster than the shells. Any of you guys heard of these?

I still have a box of those in .38 around somewhere. My parents, then my ex, didn't think it was such a good idea. Made sense to me, but then I was the one wearing the ear muffs and having fun.

I do not have knowledge on the 38 special loads. I do have several battle packs of 5.56 plastic rounds. Designed for use where you do not want a round bouncing off of metal bulk heads. FYI

I still have two boxes of the cases and two boxes of the bullets, both in 38 cal. I also have a box of 500 "Red Jet" wax bullets in 38 cal that I used to shoot in my S & W Model 10 with altered 38 Spec cases. Had a lot of fun shooting them in the house with a homemade backstop. You only have to use a primer in either load.

If you don't care where you are going, you can't get lost.

I had some primer fired black plastic hulls with hard, gray polyethylene bullets some years back. Now I have black neoprene bullets from Midway that use standard cartridge cases with enlarged primer flash holes. They are much better and easier to use. A plywood backstop will prevent damage to walls.

ATF has already given you their web-site.

Their 800 number is a combination of two rifle calibers.
