Essex Arms Corp. of Island Pond, Vermont was a early producer ( circa 1970 ) of aftermarket receviers/frames for the .45 auto.

Their early products were investment cast and sold on the commercial market, as well as utilized by a number of smaller manufacturers to produce .45's under their own names.

Auto Ordnance Corp. of West Hurley, New York was one of the organizations who sold Essex produced parts under their name.

The first generation Auto Ordnance pistols, didn't have a good reputation for quality workmanship. This might affect the value of your pistol.

I built my pin gun on an Essex frame. It's an excellent basis for a build.

They're now located in Hardwick, VT: http://www.essexarm.com/
