this is my first post, so i hope i'm doing this correct. i have two ruger bearcat single six pistols. the first one is in pretty new condition, with no wear on the cylinder or barrel, but some rust on the hammer,of course taking away from the looks and value. serial no.91-09052. the second ruger has been used a little more. it shows signs of wear on the cylinder and on the barrel end, also the front fixed sight has been replaced with a make shift sight, serial no.91-21461. my question is, could someone give me an idea of the value of these pistols? thanks greg doyle

First, your guns are Ruger Bearcats; the Ruger Single Six is a different model.
To find out the current market value of this model, go to the Gunbroker home page & press the "smart search" key. Enter "Bearcat" & select completed auctions for the last 90 days. Look for those auctions where the gun was actually sold; the asking price for a gun that didn't sell is irrelevant. Look for guns that are in the same approximate condition as yours.
I'd then subtract maybe $25 for the gun with the rusty hammer, & maybe $50-75 for the one with the bad front sight. That should give you a ballpark value.
If they were mine, I'd ship them back to Ruger for repair. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised at how much repair work they do at no charge. They don't have to do it, but that's one reason Ruger has such a good reputation (the other being that they build good guns to begin with.) Expect to pay UPS/FEDEX $40-50 for one-way shipping by Next Day Air (mandatory).
