It sure will, but many may require some fitting... Jim, you should get yourself a catalog from Brownells. Also get some clear plastic to cover the pages so the drool doesn't smear the print!!![8D]

These would probably work, but I would spend a little more and buy a quality hammer such as an Ed Brown. I have tried cheap hammers and they are more trouble than they are worth. A quality hammer can be purchased for around $40. You need to be sure that what you buy is compatible with the 80 series sears if you don't plan on changing it out.

    Thanks...
A call to Brownells, after I found this Ed Brown hammer:

reveals that the "Commander" style I want isn't as popular as it once was.
Steve, at Brownells, checked stock for Colt parts also, but no-go.

I did learn of the difference in quality, metals, milling, etc.

And since I have an excellent trigger on the Colt now, courtesy of the Colt Custom Shop, I am going to leave the firearm as-is.

When I build my first, with a 3.5" barrel, I'll put on the Commander hammer.

Won't fit anyway unless you change the grip safety.

So the "Spur" hammer" is integral to that 01091 Colt grip safety design?

Good to know. I'll file that away. I definitely need more info before I start collecting parts.

The grip safety has to have a "cut out" to accept the round commander style hammer pictured above.
The regular grip safety has a hump for the spur type hammer and the commander style has a notch cut out of it.
Otherwise, the back side of the hammer would hit the grip safety preventing the slide from going back.
    Hope that helps!

I measured it and cut it twice, and it's still too short!

Yep, I took a hard look at the gun. There's a mark just from racking the slide.

I'm going to leave this one alone and eventually build one from scratch
(after I start reloading; one project at a time).

Thanks....understand that, but was wondering why one would need a whole new grip saftey as opposed to relief fitting the new hammer and existing grip saftey.I've only put a couple in and had no problem.

So just musing, if I did switch it out, I lose the existing trigger "feel" and must re-fit the internals to bring it back to spec?
