Neighbor just brought one over in very nice cond....Wanted me to explain how the adjustable rear sight is moved..It looks like the windage is dovetail / punch, but I'm not sure..The elev. has us totally stumped. Special tool? There is a scale on the base for windage and one on the left side of the sight, so I'm assuming it's fully adjustable...He's a good guy, and thinks I'm REALLY gun savvy..yea, right..[:D] Help me maintain my Gun God status in his eyes..Thanks

I had a H. S. Model A, that I believe had the same type of adjustable rear sight as the HD military.

There should be a screw in the rear of the slide ( directly behind the rear sight ) that locks the rear sight adjustment. It has to be backed out before the sight is adjusted, then tensioned again.

Thanks rufe, but this thing has a horiz. shaft running perpendicular to the slide, with what look like tiny keyways on the ends...????

The elevation is adjusted by pivoting the sight on that horizontal shaft. On the left side of the sight there should be needle like indicator that sets in small groves in the arch of the sight base. Many times these old sights have never been moved, and they may be froze in place. Windage is adjustable by using the screw located behind the hammer. I hope this helps.
