I have had a CZ 52 for years and find it to be a great shooter, it aways draws a crowd at the range because it's loud and it's a flame thrower.
Just be careful with dry firing it, it's known to eat up firing pins.
But as for shooting it's lots of fun and it shoots where pointed considering the sights on it.
Well worth the bargin price that they can be found at.
Be careful where you shoot it, this round has excellent penetration.

Excellent value for the money. Surplus ammo is iffy? Quality not consistent, lot of it was loaded for PPSH Submachine Guns. Certain lots from Eastern Europe have been reported to be dangerous.

Firing pin on 52 is fragile, mine was broken when I got it. Had to have it welded up, to fix it.

Excellent link here, for the 52.

They are very good pistols for the money. Would I use for personal defense? Not my first choice as it's not uncommon to experience occasional misfires even recent production commercial ammo such as S&B, but you use what ya got so if it's your only gun then you use it.

Good news is that every time I've encountered a misfire if I manually recock it fires the second time around.

Firing pin, etc. all look good so I've not replaced any of the parts as I just use it for target and plinking type shooting and the occasional misfire just isn't a big deal to me.

You won't find a more robust, quality made firearm for the money. I own three of them and they all shoot great, surprisingly accurate too, and yes they do draw a croud at the range - loud, very loud for a medium sized pistol. The only thing I would reccomend is to replace the firing pin, the origuinal ones are brittle and may break at any time. Makarov.com sells parts and aftermarket firing pins for the CZ52. S&B ammo is affordable and high quality, I've never had a misfire or malfuntion of any kind with my CZ's.

Lots of these imported military surplus pistols are great buys having excellent quality and reliability. CZ-52, CZ-70, PA-63, Makarov (sp?), Star (Modelo A, B, B super, BM). I think all of these pistols are great values.

This is indeed a really robust and reliable pistol! Also has near legendary penetrative powers on all manner of "objects"; read that as you will. Interesting to note that the gun was designed to be fired with the cjech military 7.62x25 military round which is about %25 hotter that the Soviet round or any of the commercial/mil surp loads available today. If you can get your hands on that stuff you will REALLY impress the guys at the range. Also goes to show you just how strong the action is!
