Can I sell Black Talon ammo to someone in New York State? I have down NY as a restricted area on my "cheat sheet" but don't remember if it should be New York City only or all of New York State. Thanks!

Black Talon ammo, I love it! When I heard it was not going to be available any longer I bought several boxes in various calibers. I recently sold it off at a nice profit. Anytime they outlaw something buy some of it and sell it a couple years later. The Clintons are *-holes but I made quite a few bucks buying what they didn't like.[;)]

Unless there are local ordinances, Black Talon was never "outlawed".

A failed "macho" marketing campaign coupled with lots of bad press resulted in Winchester pulling it from the Civilian market. They still make the same style ammo it is just marketed under another name and their marketing program is in tune w/ the "times".

BT's are the stuff of Urban Legend ... they have no where near the capabilities that the legend(s) claim. Good, super effective round, yes, but so are others that are out there and the renamed Winchester does the same job. These things don't stop speeding cars with a single shot, punch through armor plate or ballistic vests, or blast through multiple houses in a row.

BT's like other high end "defensive" ammo are expanding rounds designed to make one ugly wound channel and dump most of their energy into their intended "soft tissue" target. Hydrashok, Gold Dot, Golden Saber and oh say the Winchester SXT ... among others ... all do similar to possibly better jobs.

Back to your original question ... any law prohibiting BT's will have to be a local one.

As a falconer, I must say that my Perigrene falcon has black talons and carries a gun, but thats a little beside the point. These guys are correct. BT's have gotten bad press, but have not been outlawed so far as I know. However, in a court of law, if you ever used them in defense of yourself, BT's would make it easier for the prosecution to claim your intent to kill rather than defend, in this updside down legal system we have. Any ol bullet will do the trick.
