    Mr. S;
    try the link "www. ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/SE-CalSerialHistory.html" hopefully they can help you with the history of your personal gun.

    Hello JS,

    Have you tried calling Ruger[?]

    Back in the early through late 1980s (when I was a regular IHMSA competitor), Ruger, Thompson Center, and a few other manufacturers used to sponsor and send factory reps to the larger matches, and always had reps on sight (with parts and a gunsmith) for the International match championships. My guess is that the wheel gun you have was one that Ruger presented to the winner in the Revolver class at either a Regional match, or the International match at the end of the year.

    Thanks, I called Ruger. The were polite and helpful. The pistol left the factory standard. IHMSA did the imprinting and engraving on these pistols.
    Thanks again,
