Unertl vs Bausch & Lomb , mounterd atop a 260 rem

Back on April 5th (since then had a painful kidney stone removed) I posted a question on selecting either a 6x24 B&L scope varmint or a 16x Unertl target scope to mount atop a newly built 260 Rem rifle. ( 26" Lilja barrel, Rem action and a Jewel trigger) to hunt varmints with and had very some good responses, that make sense. These were my father's scopes and I want to use them on something special. I'm now building a 6.5mm/284 Win for 1000yd shoots to go along with the 260 and will use the other scope (not used on the varmint rifle) to mount on the new rifle when it's completed . I guess my question really is this ---"which one to use on either of the two rifles" , knowing that there are other , better scope choices out there , but for sentimental reasons , choose from these two.

As I recall the Unertl was 16x. Put that on the 1000 yard rifle.

Second Hedog's suggestion ... that way in your "hunting rifle" you can adjust the mag. to suit the hunting distances. And on the 1000 yd. rig your giving up a little top end magnification, but 16x will be better in this application than the varmint hunting.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

countershaft- Do you have this style of 6x24 B&L scope? If so, This one is mounted on my 25-06, I have not rung this on out to 1000 yet,
but with the 1/8 click Its rock solid to 550+/-

If you are planning to do serious shooting at 1,000 yards then use the scope that you can best read mirage with.
