Berreta USA Tikka T3 hunter in 300 wm a good buy?

I am looking for a 300 Winchester magnum and after trying out 3 different bolt actions I found the Tikka's action to be superb.
I did not hold a Tikka T3 hunter in 300wm however I would assume the general feel etc would be the same in all caliber T3 rifles? I held a T3 light not sure what caliber it was.
I like the raise on it and the general feel, is there anything else I should look at that has a similar action or am I done looking?
For more information I looked on the Tikka site as well as Berreta USA
http://www.tikka.fi/

Thanks in advance for your advice. You guys are great.

However all it made me do is decide on the Tikka, the reason being it didn't have the rail over the bolt it just had drilled scope mounting positions over the bore and near the back of the bolt, I do like the look that way however I decided with a full length rail on the Tikka I will have much more control over scope placement so that was my final deciding factor for the Tikka.
I plan to go and order one today at my locally dealer, my only problem now being that I keep thinking how sweet it would look in the synthetic stock with a big * scope on it instead of the wood.
Edit dang it, T3 whitetail hunter in laminated stainless steel, I am going to break my bank account....

Save the money for a scope (zeiss conquest) and get the T3 lite with a sims limbsaver recoil pad (#10112 fits the T3. The big thing about the T3 is the accuracy. I love the feel of mine also but the accuracy is what sells for me.

I see what you mean.
How accurate is the heavy barreled Tikka?
A very difficult question, because so many factors have influence to the accuracy. These include: ammunition, scope mounts, scope and the shooter. In 1999 fall British long range bench rest championship was won with a Tikka Continental, cal. 6,5x55. The range was 1000 yards, 10 shots, diameter of all impacts: 4,4".
I will be getting the Tikka the savage looked nice but again its standard bolt action not covered bolt, I really like that side eject covered bolt with built in rail on the Tikka, just for the scope adjustments that can be made with it.

Have you looked at the Steyr yet?!?! Don't buy till you do! We shoot w/a couple of guys w/Tikka's and while they are accurate they get their *'$ handed to them by the Steyrs consistently. The Tikka's shoot w/the likes of the Rems and such. The Savages are tough to beat. Kevin of Elkhorn Valley Outfitters get's my Steyrs for me as well as a new Savage in the very near future.
I wasn't able to find a website for the Steyr and theres no way in hell I would find a place near me selling them, and without being able to touch it I'm not buying it its ok tho I am set on the Tikka now its just which one heheh.
I may go with the Tikka Continental Long Range Hunter because of the heavy barrel looks to cost as much as the laminated SS going to call now and see what I can order.
Also the Berreta website supposedly isn't up to date at all, they don't even make the Tikka Continental Long Range Hunter anymore.
I had a Tikka whitetail hunter before but the T3 feels way better to me. I am sure you will enjoy whichever model you decide to purchase.

There is a T3 lite 300wm on here for $449 plus $25 for shipping. The Tikka promises a 1" moa or they do not leave the factory. It would be the same with the heavy barrell. Most shoot about a .5" moa or better. I liked the T3 lite because it is so light, but I use mine as a hunting rifle only. The laminate will weigh more as will the heavy barrell. The heavy barrells are good if you are going to due bench shooting.

Ya I saw the one on here however its not $449, bidding just starts at $449 I don't expect it to go for that. I am still waiting on word from my local gun shops to see if either of them can get ANY Tikka in 300 Win mag.
For one thing if the one can get it it will only be around 450 wheres the auction one could go for considerably more. Its hard to say but I am watching that auction it has 4 days left so I will see how the bidding goes.
Hopefully my local gun shops will get back to me soon.
hope you like what you get good luck [;)]
p.s. buy the tikka
Tikka all the way they are very accurate and the price tag is awesome on them i am going to be purchasing one in .270 WSM very soon !![:D]. i also like the detachable magazine they come with it isnt one of them that is all big and bulgy either it is smooth and blends in with the stock . the action is great very very smooth also the adjustable trigger is very nice. i believe 2-4 pounds and you can do it at home .

Well after how hard it was to find the 300 wm I looked at some ballistic charts and found that there is very little difference between the 300 wm and 308 they differ very little up to 400 yards and past 400 yards they drop so much its not worth shooting anyhow for the most part.
So I went with a Tikka light synthetic blued in .308 instead of the 300 wm, I went and put 100 bucks down on it a few hours ago I should have it in my hands by next Wednesday.
The best part in my mind in going down to the .308 is less recoil possibly. As well as much much cheaper ammo and if recoil is less I don't have to worry about going with the very light synthetic. Oh and its also 75 bucks cheaper going to run me about 500 with tax. Oh and I will be able to use the same ammo in any 308 assault rifles I buy.
Oh btw I asked about buying an extra magazine, they cost 65 bucks "ouch" I think I will wait on that.
I got this ballistics comparison from http://www.remington.com they have a really nice ballistics comparison page.
